Invicta has lost their Atomweight Champion for the time being, as Jinh Yu Frey was stripped of the belt Thursday following a weigh-in.
Frey tipped the scale at 105.8 pounds, failing to get under the 105 pound atomweight limit for her championship defence against Ashley Cummins.
She has also been fined 25 per cent of her fight purse due to missing weight.
Cummins came in at 104.5 pounds, making her eligible for the fight.
The fight will still main event the Invicta FC 39 card on Friday night, however Cummins is the only fighter who can win the Atomweight Championship, if she wins the fight.
“I have plenty of reasons, but they don’t matter. I failed in my professionalism,” said Frey in an Instagram post following the weigh-ins.
Invicta FC 39 is set to take place on Friday night at 8PM EST from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, USA.
