Japanese MMA promotion RIZIN Fighting Federation has made the decision to cancel April event RIZIN 22, per a press conference on Thursday. Along with the event being cancelled, the promotion said they will not hold another event until July at least.
RIZIN 22 was meant to happen on April 22nd from the Yokohama Arena in Yokahama, Japan. No fights were officially announced for the event, although it was presumed that Mikuru Asakura was going to face Krazy Bee fighter Kotetsu Boku.
A poster for the cancelled event was tweeted out, which also featured Kai Asakura, Luiz Gustavo and Tofiq Musayev. It also featured Manel Kape, who signed a contract with UFC in late March.
During the press conference, it was also mentioned that RIZIN intends to hold a large event in the summer.
The last event that RIZIN held was RIZIN 21 on February 22nd. The main event of the show saw Mikuru Asakura stop Daniel Salas in the second round with strikes. The event took place at the Hamamatsu Arena in Hamamatsu, Japan.
