Daniel Rodriguez and Gabe Green fought in a welterweight battle on the UFC Fight Night prelims from Vegas. Here’s how the fight went.
Bout 5: Daniel Rodriguez (11-1) vs. Gabriel Green (9-2) (Welterweight)
The first round was close stand-up from the fighters. While Green was active, Rodriguez was connecting more often with punches.
The second round started fast, slowing down a minute in or so. Rodriguez was more than ever landing a harder and higher tempo of punches. The left hand of Rodriguez was connecting more than anything. Green had a swing of momentum halfway through the round, landing some punches and a knee to the body before initiating a clinch. Green had Rodriguez backing up near the end of the round, although Rodriguez was able to connect as well on the backfoot.
Green kept putting the pressure on Rodriguez and walking him down, although he was getting hit quite a bit. Rodriguez secured a takedown in the final minute of the round. Going to the scorecards, Rodriguez won unanimously (30-27, 30-27 & 30-27).
