Chookagian caught a leg kick for a takedown early on. She got on the back of Shevchenko, trying for a rear naked choke. Chookagian leaned back, putting the choke under the chin of Shevchenko. Chookagian let the hold go eventually, but landed punches while still on the back of Shevchenko. Shevchenko turned onto her back, with Chookagian still in full mount. The punches continued, going on the back of Shevchenko again. Shevchenko eventually escaped the position, going to the feet before the round ended.
To start the second round, Chookagian put Shevchenko against the cage in a clinch. She got a takedown from the position, landing in full mount. From full mount, Chookagian landed lots of strikes periodically. The round ended in this position.
Slow paced stand-up started the third round. Chookagian got a takedown in the final minute of the round, going into full mount. Going to the scorecards, they all favoured Chookagian.
