Japanese women’s MMA promotion DEEP Jewels announced on Wednesday their return will be on July 23rd, holding an event at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan. Headlining the card, Asami Nakai, also known as Akaringo, will fight Miki Motono for the interim DEEP Jewels Strawweight Championship.
The matchup was originally slated for April 6th but was cancelled due to COVID-19. Motono has a 4-1 MMA record, winning two fights recently, both being first-round stoppages.
Akaringo recently bounced back from a 2019 loss to Shizuka Sugiyama, defeating Si Yoon Park via decision in December.
The plan is for fans to attend, with tickets going on sale later in the month.
DEEP Impact, the main promotion attached to DEEP Jewels, is set to have their return on August 23rd, with their site listing “DEEP 95 IMPACT“ for the date.
