A heavyweight bout featuring Derrick Lewis and Alexey Oleinik is now in the headlining spot for UFC’s August 8th event. Reported by Ariel Helwani of ESPN, the fight is set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Lewis will look to build on his two previous wins, which were scorecard victories against Blagoy Ivanov and Ilir Latifi. The fight will be the ninth time Lewis has been booked for a five-round fight, however he has only left the third round twice before.
Oleinik has a similar two-fight winning streak, picking up career wins number 58 and 59 over Maurice Green and Fabricio Werdum.
Announcing the fight, “The Boa Constructor” shot a video of him signing a contract that arrived through a bottle at a beach.
Gane and Pavlovich Also Set For Card
Lewis and Oleinik won’t be the sole heavyweight fight on the card, as a clash between Ciryl Gane and Sergey Pavlovich is also slated to happen.
First reported by French publication La Sueur, the bout will be the fourth fight for Gane in the UFC. Undefeated through six professional MMA fights, Gane last won in December, going to decision over Tanner Boser.
Pavlovich will try to extend his two-fight winning streak which was constructed in 2019. Both finishes, Pavlovich won over Marcelo Golm and Maurice Greene.
