In a rematch, former UFC Strawweight Champions Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas fought on the main card of UFC 251. Here’s how the fight went.
Bout 10: Jessica Andrade (20-7) vs. Rose Namajunas (8-4) (Strawweight)
Namajunas had a good start, connecting with many punches to the head. They clinched in the fourth minute after Andrade came forward. Namajunas landed a knee to the body while exiting clinch. She scored again with a knee in a clinch a minute later.
Namajunas was the fighter walking forward constantly in the second round, throwing and landing with more strikes. They traded punches in a middle part of the round which saw some of the cleaner shots in the fight for Andrade. Namajunas fell on her back after trying for a flying knee. Andrade had a good ending to the round, coming forward and landing a couple of punches.
Andrade had a good start to the final round, stringing together some strikes.Namajunas started the bleed from the nose in the round. Andrade landed a combination then did a judo throw to take Namajunas down. Namajunas was able to push Andrade off and make the fight return to the feet. Namajunas got a takedown in the final minute, but Andrade reversed it before they stood back up. Both fighters were landing hard punches near the end, although it was Andrade who scored the most. Needing judges to find a winner, a split decision went the way of Namajunas (29-28 Namajunas, 29-28 Andrade & 29-28 Namajunas).
