Marcos Rogerio de Lima Out of September 5th UFC Bout Against Alexander Romanov Due To COVID-19

UFC’s “Fight Night” card on Saturday night has been trimmed down to seven bouts in total following a positive COVID-19 test on Marcos Rogerio de Lima, who was set to face Alexander Romanov.

News of the change was first reported by Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting, who also noted that American Top Team coaches Katel Kubis and Leonardo dos Santos also received positive tests.

Dos Santos was set to have his second bout of the year, attempting to continue the momentum of a February victory over Ben Sosoli.

Romanov, a 12-fight undefeated heavyweight, was slated to make his UFC debut. Saturday’s bout is the third cancelled one for Romanov, who had bouts against Raphael Pessoa and Marcin Tybura taken off of cards earlier in the year.

Bringing Saturday’s show down to seven bouts, it’s the first time the UFC has held a show with seven fights since 2005. Here’s the updated card, which is set to happen at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Bout 7: Alistair Overeem (46-18) vs. Augusto Sakai (15-1-1) (Heavyweight)

Bout 6: Ovince St. Preux (24-14) vs. Alonzo Menifield (9-1) (Light Heavyweight)

Bout 5: Michel Pereira (23-11) vs. Zelim Imadaev (8-2) (Welterweight)

Bout 4: Brian Kelleher (21-11) vs. Ray Rodriguez (16-6) (Featherweight)

Bout 3: Montana De La Rosa (11-5) vs. Viviane Araujo (8-2) (Flyweight)

Bout 2: Bartosz Fabinski (15-3) vs. Andre Muniz (19-4) (Middleweight)
