In the co-main event of UFC 253, Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz fought for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Here’s how their fight went.
Bout 10: Dominick Reyes (12-1) vs. Jan Blachowicz (26-8) (Vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship)
Reyes opened the fight with a couple of leg kicks. Both fighters worked a slow pace as they attempted to figure each other out. Blachowicz scored with a loud, slapping body kick in the fourth minute of the fight. He had landed a few other body kicks earlier in the round. Visible bruising appeared on the side of Reyes near the end of the round.
The second round kept a slower pace that was similar to the round before. Blachowicz continued to land to the body of Reyes. Blachowicz started to come forward with combinations of punches in the final minute of the round. Reyes was rocked and dropped by a left hand in the final minute of the round. He landed follow-up strikes on the ground until the referee stepped in.
