UFC 255: Katlyn Chookagian vs. Cynthia Calvillo Play-by-Play

In her second fight at flyweight, Cynthia Calvillo fought Katlyn Chookagian on Saturday’s UFC pay-per-view card. The fight went like this.

Bout 9: Katlyn Chookagian (14-4) vs. Cynthia Calvillo (9-1-1) (Flyweight)

Calvillo caught a kick for a single leg takedown in the first minute of the fight. Chookagian was quick to get back up to her feet. Chookagian was able to connect with jabs while the fight was on the feet. Chookagian was able to sprawl and shut down a takedown attempt from Calvillo in the third minute. Calvillo was able to connect with a left hook in the fourth minute of the round. A cut opened on the bridge of Calvillo’s nose late in the round.

Chookagian was the more active striker in the second round. The left hand that she was connecting in the first round would continue to land in the second round. Chookagian was out-striking Calvillo throughout the round. 

Chookagian continued to out-strike Calvillo in the final round. Chookagian caught a leg kick in the fourth minute to sweep Calvillo. Calvillo landed a strong two-punch combo in the final minute of the round. Chookagian won after three rounds of action (30-27, 30-27 & 30-27).

RESULT: Katlyn Chookagian def. Cynthia Calvillo via Decision, Unanimous
