A high-level welterweight bout between Stephen Thompson and Gilbert Burns has been booked for UFC’s July 10th pay-per-view event, as first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The fight will take place at UFC 264, although the location for the show is not known currently.
Burns will be returning after losing a title fight to Kamaru Usman in February. The fight was stopped in the third round when strikes took Burns out of the battle.
Burns was given the title fight after stringing together four consecutive wins at welterweight, including a win over former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley.
Thompson will aim to earn his third consecutive victory in July. His last fight saw him go five rounds, defeating Geoff Neal on scorecards back in December.
