The grand finals of Bellator’s Featherweight Grand Prix now have a date attached for it, as 145-pound champ Patricio Pitbull will face AJ McKee on July 31st. News of the date for the tournament final was first reported by Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.
The location for the Bellator event is not known at the moment. No previous bouts have been reported for the show.
The fight is the culmination of a 16-man bracket that was first formed in 2019.
Pitbull has progressed through the tournament while holding the division’s belt in Bellator. He started his tournament run with a five-round unanimous decision victory against Juan Archuleta in 2019.
His last two appearances have both been quick stoppage wins, finishing both Pedro Carvalho and Emmanuel Sanchez within a round each.
McKee has continued his undefeated pro run throughout the bracket with quick and impressive victories.
He started the bracket with two wins in 2019, stopping Georgi Karakhanyan in only eight seconds and submitting Derek Campos with a triangle armbar.
He punched his ticket into the finals last year with a first-round submission win over former Bellator Bantamweight Champion Darrion Caldwell.
