UFC’s July 17th show will need a new main event, as a featherweight bout between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez has been pulled from the card and postponed to a later date.
News of the postponed fight was first reported by Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes, who reported the story on Thursday. The reason for the bout’s delay is reportedly due to Holloway suffering an injury.
The fight was set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
It is not known currently when Holloway and Rodriguez will next meet.
The postponement delays Rodriguez’s return to the octagon. His last fight dates back to late 2019, where he defeated Jeremy Stephens via unanimous decision.
Holloway has already competed in a main event this year, putting together a strong five-round striking performance over Calvin Kattar to secure a decision victory in January. The bout put him back into the win column after losing a two-fight series of title bouts against Alexander Volkanovski.
