Former PFL Heavyweight Champion Bruno Cappelozza has received another suspension related to a failed drug test, preventing him from competing until the second quarter of 2025.
PFL’s anti-doping partner, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), announced Monday that 2021 champ Cappelozza has been given a one-year suspension after testing positive for the banned substance clomiphene.
Cappelozza was given an out-of-competition test by USADA in April, two months after he lost to Vadim Nemkov on a “PFL vs. Bellator” pay-per-view card.
The suspension means he can’t compete until April 17th of next year. The end-date calls into question whether Cappelozza can compete as part of PFL’s 2025 roster, as the month of April tends to be when the promotion begins its season. The schedule for heavyweights started in the first week of April of this year, for example.
Cappelozza has now faced drug test-related penalties for two consecutive years. In 2023, he was removed from the heavyweight roster after failing a drug test administered by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
