Joilton Lutterbach Cut From UFC Roster, Given Two-Year CSAD Suspension

Joilton Lutterbach’s UFC debut won’t come for another two years at least, if ever.

Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), the current UFC anti-doping testing program, announced Tuesday that Lutterbach was handed a two-year suspension for a violation committed earlier this year. Along with the suspension, his newly signed contract with the top fight promotion has been terminated.

Lutterbach tested positive for a metabolite of the anabolic steroid drostanolone on June 8th, per the statement. The test was administered in the lead-up to his UFC debut against Shara Magomedov as part of a “Fight Night” card in Saudi Arabia.

After Lutterbach was informed of his positive test on June 20th, just two days before his scheduled promotional debut, he admitted that he had “extensive use” of anabolic steroids prior to signing onto the roster. CSAD noted in the statement that the use of prohibited substances up to 12 months before entering the testing pool must be declared to the program, which Lutterbach had not previously done.

Due to his failure to disclose prior use of anabolic steroids, Lutterbach won’t be able to step into the UFC cage until June 23rd, 2026.

The Brazilian talent went public regarding his failed drug test back in June, mentioning on social media that he had taken “Juice,” slang for steroids, three months prior but thought he was “clean and fit to fight” by the time he joined the UFC.

While Lutterbach’s time on the UFC roster ended before it even truly started, the two-year suspension means that he must wait until mid-2026 for even the chance to get another opportunity in the promotion.

Lutterbach hopes to return to the promotion someday, as noted by recent social media posts.

“The dream is not over,” Lutterbach said on Instagram last month. “The Brazilian subzero will only be frozen for a while.”

The former PFL and KSW talent has fought as a pro since 2011, attaining nearly 40 pro victories in his time.
