The first atomweight Invicta FC champion in nearly a year will be crowned at the promotion’s September 20th card in Kansas City, Kansas, USA.
Rising Brazilian talents Elisandra Ferreira and Andressa Romero are expected to meet in the main event of a card from the Memorial Hall, competing for the promotion’s currently vacant 105-pound title.
Invicta FC is searching for a new champ after previous titleholder Rayanne dos Santos relinquished the title to join UFC’s strawweight division. Dos Santos gained the championship on a May 2023 card, dethroning Jillian DeCoursey to become the eighth-ever titleholder in the weight class’ history.
The upcoming booking gives a pair of solid prospects their first-ever title opportunity in the leading women’s MMA promotion.
Ferreira is entering on a three-fight winning streak since early 2023. Her most recent win emerged at Invicta FC 55 in late June, beating Katie Saull on scorecards.
26-year-old Ferreira is no stranger to title fights, with the upcoming booking being the third time that she has been assigned a five-round matchup. She previously captured a title in regional Brazilian promotion Nacao Cyborg, and lost a 2022 matchup in Canadian organization PAWFC.
Romero is being thrown into the title mix after scoring a massive promotional debut win earlier this year. She overcame RIZIN stand-out Saori Oshima on a card in June, beating her via unanimous decision to snap a two-fight skid. After getting past one notable competitor at 105 pounds, she’ll have to end the streak of another to claim gold and become one of the division’s top names worldwide.
