Eduardo Chapolin scored a statement win on Friday evening, putting away Igor Siqueira in just 86 seconds to unify LFA’s flyweight titles.
A trio of knockdowns put a quick end to the championship fight, which headlined LFA 190 from The Commerce Casino & Hotel in Commerce, California, USA.
Just seconds into the fight, Chapolin’s damaging striking skills were already on display. His first knockdown emerged only 30 seconds into the bout, flooring Siqueira with an overhand right.
Siqueira was able to quickly shake off the knockdown, engaging in back-and-forth exchanges with Chapolin after the scare. However, it wasn’t long before Siqueira found himself in trouble again. Chapolin scored a pair of knockdowns a minute into the fight both due to left hook punches, causing referee Mike Beltran to eventually step in and end the fight.
28-year-old Chapolin entered this weekend with the goal of defending his LFA Flyweight Championship for the first time. He initially gained the title in late 2023, scoring a fourth-round stoppage over prior champ Cody Davis.
Chapolin was originally scheduled to appear as part of a title bout earlier this year against American prospect Eimar Hernandez, although their meeting ended up not happening due to the Brazilian fighter suffering an injury.
Siqueira ended up stepping in to take Chapolin’s place, fighting Hernandez for an interim title. He scored an upset win in the appearance, ending the American’s undefeated run in just 67 seconds due to strikes. The performance earned Siqueira an LFA bout and lined him up for a title unification matchup this weekend.
Chapolin once again stands alone atop LFA’s flyweight division, taking away Siqueira’s interim status and remaining a champion. After the win, Chapolin called for a spot on the UFC roster.
“What else do I have to prove? I have done everything I can do here in this cage, I need the opportunity to fight in the UFC,” said Chapolin, through an interpreter.
Douglas Scores One-Shot KO In Interim Featherweight Title Fight
Lerryan Douglas captured an interim title in LFA’s featherweight division on Friday night, ending the lengthy winning streak of Javier Reyes with a second-round finish.
Douglas landed a one-shot knockout in the co-main event of the night, faceplanting Reyes with a clean left hook halfway through the second round. The sudden blow put an end to a close championship fight, with Douglas cruising on the feet and Reyes attempting to find ways to get the contest to the ground.
Douglas was given a title opportunity following notable back-to-back finish wins in the LFA, getting past Bellator alum Nathan Ghareeb and rising prospect Ivan Tena over the past year.
Reyes came into this weekend on an eight-fight winning streak that has been in the works for more than five years. He won his LFA debut earlier this year, stopping veteran Chase Gibson with strikes.
Douglas now sits alongside Elijah Johns as the current LFA featherweight champions. Johns earned his belt earlier this year on a Phoenix, Arizona card, going five rounds to overcome Alfred Walker.
After his win, Douglas remained open to either unifying titles with Johns or taking a short-notice opportunity in the UFC.
