A Cage Warriors flyweight title clash is back on the schedule.
Shajidul Haque and Nicolas Leblond are once again expected to meet in a five-round bout, this time booked to throw down at Cage Warriors 181 from the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle, England on November 23rd.
A fight between incumbent champ Haque and Leblond was first expected to go down in July of this year, although the fight ended up falling through in the weeks leading up to the event.
With the bout back on, Haque now has a set date for when he could break records in the promotion. The 33-year-old will become the first flyweight champ in Cage Warriors history to defend his title two times if successful in November, putting himself above the six previous titleholders that came before him.
Haque was first given a title shot in late 2022, coming back to Cage Warriors following a four-fight run of wins on the regional scene. He ended the title run of Sam Creasey with a third-round finish, making him the promotion’s top 125-pound talent.
He has since come back to defend his title once, going five rounds against Michele Martignoni in 2023 to win on scorecards.
France’s Leblond has built up his record in Cage Warriors as of late, entering the upcoming title bout on a five-fight winning streak. While he has put together impressive wins in the past, the upcoming bout will be his first-ever five-round appearance.
Cage Warriors 181, an event that currently looks to be the promotion’s final European card of 2024, is quite the strong lineup already. It was previously announced that Harry Hardwick will attempt to defend his featherweight title on the main card, meeting Brazilian prospect Keweny Lopes in a five-round bout.
