Brazilian Finisher Carlos Prates To Face Neil Magny In November 9th UFC Main Event

Carlos Prates will end his rookie year as a UFC fighter with his first-ever five-round assignment.

Prates has been booked to meet veteran talent Neil Magny in the main event of a November 9th UFC “Fight Night” card, as first reported by Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.

The booking sees Prates chase his fourth win since debuting on the UFC roster just earlier this year. The Sao Paulo, Brazil talent has put together a trio of “Performance of the Night” finish wins since February, including an August outing that made him the first UFC fighter to stop Li Jingliang with strikes.

The matchup allows Prates a chance to end 2024 as part of the official welterweight rankings, going up against the division’s 15th-place contender.

Magny, a 33-fight UFC vet, will try to use his experience edge to overcome Prates when he steps into his fourth career main event. The experienced fighter has flipped between wins and losses in recent years, most recently suffering a first-round stoppage against Michael Morales in August.

The “Haitian Sensation” has proven to be a tough opponent for rising names in the division in the past. He ended the momentum of rising Canadian Mike Malott earlier this year, putting together a comeback performance and scoring an upset third-round finish.
