A trio of former UFC talents regained some momentum this week when appearing on an Invicta FC card from Kansas City, Kansas, USA.
Emily Ducote, Victoria Leonardo and Shanna Young scored stoppage wins as part of Wednesday’s card, getting them all back into the win column after recent unsuccessful performances.
Ducote, a former Invicta FC Strawweight Champion, was returning to the promotion following a five-fight UFC run which came to an end earlier this year. She earned a submission win in the main event of the night, putting away Russian talent Yulia Ostroverkhova in the second round with an armbar.
The fight saw Ducote, a massive favorite in the bout, find success on the ground against Ostroverkhova following a close opening round on the feet.
Leonardo similarly won with an armbar as part of the show’s co-main event, submitting Amanda Torres in the third round of a back-and-forth battle. The performance was a big win for Leonardo, who had a UFC run of just one win and four losses brought to an end in August.
The quickest victory of the night – and in Invicta FC bantamweight history – came when Young put away Pamela Boveda Aguirre in just 23 seconds with strikes. Swarming Boveda Aguirre early with shots, Young kept throwing until the referee decided to step in.
Wednesday marked a return to the regional scene for Young following runs in both the UFC and PFL. While her first run as a UFC fighter came to an end in 2022, Young was picked up by PFL the following year and competed in their flyweight tournament in recent months. She snapped a two-fight losing streak with her victory this week.
