Piotr Kuberski Punches His Way To KSW Interim Middleweight Title Against Tomasz Romanowski

Piotr Kuberski got one step closer to becoming Poland’s best middleweight on Saturday evening.

The 36-year-old poured it on Tomasz Romanowski in the third round of their main event matchup, continuing to rain down hooks and uppercuts until a stoppage emerged at KSW 104 from Gorzow, Poland, this weekend.

The finish earned Romanowski the interim KSW Middleweight Championship, lining him up for a future clash against top divisional talent Pawel Pawlak.

The opening round and the second frame of the fight saw the middleweights compete in a competitive striking battle, with Romanowski providing a bigger challenge than what sportsbooks thought he would.

Kuberski used his reach advantage to create distance between him and Romanowski, throwing tons of jabs out against the fellow Polish fighter. But an aggressive Romanowski would come forward with flurries of punches, throwing out wild shots against the taller Kuberski. While many of the punches missed, others landed and prevented the bout from just being a showcase for Kuberski through 10 minutes.

However, momentum shifted significantly in favor of Kuberski by the third round. A flurry of punches made Romanowski cover up early in the round, kicking off a beatdown from Kuberski that would continue for minutes. While Romanowski was able to move around the cage and keep a high guard to defend shots, he did little to answer back or stop the constant attacks he faced.

After shedding quite a bit of blood—making the active arms of Kuberski turn red—Romanowski was taken out of the fight with a little less than a minute to go in the third round. His corner threw in the towel roughly around the same time that referee Lukasz Bosacki decided to call off the bout.

Kuberski has put together an impressive run in recent years, rising to prominence in his home country of Poland and now being just one fight away from becoming the undisputed KSW champ. He is currently on a 13-fight winning streak, a run which has seen him previously capture a title in FEN and earn a trio of past KSW finish victories.

It’s unclear when the middleweight titles could be unified against Pawlak, who is currently nursing an injury.

Romanowski, a KSW vet of 13 appearances, was challenging for a KSW middleweight title for the second time. He previously met current top champ Pawlak in 2023, getting stopped in the fifth round of their clash. The veteran talent is now on a three-fight skid.

Here’s a look at the full results for KSW 104.
