ONE Warrior Series 10 Full Coverage

In 2018, ONE Championship started the “ONE Warrior Series,” the official feeder for the Singapore-based promotion. After six episodes in 2019, the first happened in 2020 in February. The card featured 14 fights, including MMA and kickboxing bouts.

Full Coverage

Bout 1: Seung Hyun Cho (5-3) vs. Rana Rudra Pratap Singh (10-0) (135 lbs) (MMA Bout)

The first fight of the show saw undefeated fighter Rana Rudra Pratap Singh fought Seung Hyun Cho. Singh got a takedown right off the bat. Cho landed elbows to the head from the bottom position. The referee moved the fighters to the middle of the ring as they got too close to the ropes. They stood up, where Singh got in a guillotine choke that brought the fight back to the ground. Singh kept with the choke until the referee stopped the fight, saying he saw a tap. It looked like Cho might have went out from the choke. Staying undefeated Rana Rudra Pratap Singh got a fast win.

Bout 2: Saksit Janhom (0-0) vs. Shammah Chandran (2-1) (145 lbs) (MMA Bout)

In the next fight, two less experienced fighters in Saksit Janhom and Shammah Chandran fought. Chandran shot for a takedown in the first minute. Janhom grabbed the ropes to resist takedown. Chandran got a takedown, and Janhom tapped out due to an injury. While it wasn’t the way Shammah Chandran wanted to get a win, he improved to 3-1 with this short fight.

Bout 3: Peter Danesoe (0-1) vs. Irfan Ahmad (1-0) (125 lbs) (MMA Bout)

Peter Danesoe attempted to get his first win as a pro against undefeated Irfan Ahmad in the third fight of the show. The first round was a slow-paced striking battle. Ahmad had a good combination of punches in a clinch halfway through the round. He got a takedown moments later. They got back up in the clinch shortly after. The round ended in a clinch against the ropes. 

Danesoe tried for a takedown in the first minute of the second round. Ahmad was the one that got the fight to the ground. They got back up in another clinch. Danesoe landed a leg kick, with Ahmad responding by charging forward with strikes. Danesoe got a takedown from the clinch. They got up against the ropes. They both threw wild punches in the final minute, scoring a few each. Ahmad landed a spinning back elbow which connected and dropped Danesoe. The round ended with Ahmad doing ground and pound in top position.

Danesoe got a takedown in the first minute of the final round after landing many strikes in standup. He tried for a rear naked choke, however instead found himself on his back on the ground. Ahmad did some strikes from top position. The referee repositioned them in the middle of the ring with a minute left. Ahmad held top position, scoring strikes periodically until the round ended. Going to the judges, it was Irfan Ahmad who got the unanimous decision win.

Bout 4: Joey Baylon (0-0) vs. Manthan Rane (1-0) (132 lbs) (MMA Bout)

In a catchweight fight, Joey Baylon made his pro MMA debut against Manthan Rane. Rane tried for a takedown in the second minute, however Baylon did a good job at stopping it. Baylon tried for a guillotine choke while on the feet. Rane got a takedown while Baylon kept trying for the guillotine. Rane got out of the choke, getting on Baylon’s back and trying for a rear naked choke. Baylon was able to avoid the choke, however Rane stayed on his back up until the final few seconds of the round.

Baylon connected with a combination in the first minute of the second round. Rane got another takedown. He threw some knees to the head. They got moved to the centre of the ring with three minutes to go. Rane had half guard for a while, getting into side control after Baylon almost got up. Rane got on Baylon’s back with a minute left. The referee warned Rane got strikes to the back of the head. He landed some punches right before the bell went.

Rane got yet another takedown to start the final round. He kept control on the ground for numerous minutes. The fight ended with Rane still in top control. After three dominant rounds on the ground, Manthan Rane was chosen as the winner.

Bout 5: Marie Ruumet (0-0) vs. Anita Karim (1-1) (115 lbs) (MMA Bout)

The only women’s fight of the evening saw Marie Ruumet made her MMA debut against Anita Karim. Karim had a strong left cross at the start. She put Ruumet against the ropes, although the referee separated them about a minute later. Karim shot for a takedown, not getting it before the referee broke them up again. Karim landed a few good strikes before the round ended.

Karim had a great series of punches in the second minute of the second round. Ruumet clinched up against the ropes. Karim was on the attack for the entire round.

Karim put Ruumet against the ropes in a clinch with four minutes left in the fight. They were brought back to stand-up with half of the round left. After some close striking, Karim put Ruumet against the ropes to end the fight. After going the distance, Anita Karim got a safe win.

Bout 6: Adib Sulaiman (2-3) vs. Susovan Ghosh (4-4) (125 lbs) (MMA Bout)

In a 125-pound bout, Adib Sulaiman fought Susovan Ghosh. Ghosh was dropped by a right hand in the first 30 seconds of the fight. Sulaiman got on his back on the ground, trying for a kimura. Ghosh took top position on the ground. They got back to their feet with two minutes to go. Ghosh immediately got another takedown. Ghosh kept top position as the round ended.

Ghosh shot for another takedown in the second round. Sulaiman stopped it for a while, however Ghogh got it to the ground in the second minute. They were stood up with two minutes to go due to inactivity. Ghosh tried for another takedown, but Sulaiman kept it on the feet. Ghosh scored a right hook which connected flush. More takedowns were blocked by Sulaiman. As the round was closing out, Sulaiman landed a multiple punch combination which ended with a right hook that dropped Ghosh. Outlasting Ghosh’s wrestling, Adib Sulaiman got to land hard punches to end the fight.

Bout 7: Marc Grayson (1-0) vs. Rick Alchin (17-14) (205 lbs) (MMA Bout)

Undefeated Marc Grayson fought the much more experienced Rick Alchin in the next fight. Grayson tried for a single-leg takedown right off the bat. He got the fight to the ground, taking the back of Alchin. Alchin flipped over, with Grayson then in half guard. Grayson did ground and pound throughout, however he really picked up the pace in the final minute of the round. The round ended from that position.

Grayson tried for a takedown in the second round, pulling guard after Alchin pushed him away. Alchin had half guard for quite a while. He kept the position until the round ended.

Gray opened the third round with another takedown attempt. Alchin blocked with a clinch, getting a trip takedown seconds later. Gray tried for a knee bar which didn’t work. Alchin went into side control. Both fighters threw punches to the head from this position. Alchin went into a north-south position. From that position, they both threw knees to the head. Grayson was able to transition into full mount on top. He threw numerous strikes before going on his back, making Alchin tap out quickly. Marc Grayson advanced to two wins as a pro with a last round armbar.

Bout 8: Daniel Van Heerden (16-8) vs. Arash Fairtex Mardani (0-0) (243 lbs) (MMA Bout)

In a 243-pound fight, debuting Arash Fairtex Mardani faced Daniel Van Heerden. Mardani secured a takedown after 30 seconds of stand-up. Van Heerden was able to flip the position. He took Mardani’s back, throwing hooks to the side of the head. Heerden switched over to full mount, continuing with strikes until the referee stepped in to end it. Getting his sixth-straight win in a row, Daniel Van Heerden overpowered Arash Fairtex Mardani.

Bout 9: Michael Walker vs. Kanta Motoyama (135 lbs) (Kickboxing Bout)

The first of two kickboxing bouts this evening was between Michael Walker and Kanta Motoyama. This was Walker’s sixth appearance on the ONE Warrior Series. Walker was throwing unusual side-kicks throughout the round.

Motoyama had a good start to the second round, showing fast fists that were connecting. Walker was just eating kicks and punches halfway through the round. Motoyama had clearly needed a round to warm up before he got in his groove.

Walker had his moments in the third round, however it was another clear one for Motayama. A chaotic exchange ended the fight where they both landed strikes. Walker scored an overhand left in that exchange which connected hard. Going to the judges, Kanta Motoyama got the win.

Bout 10: Mehdi Bagheri (4-2) vs. Koji Shikuwa (6-8) (185 lbs) (MMA Bout)

Going back to MMA, the next fight saw Mehdi Bagheri and Koji Shikuwa battle. Both fighters were returning to the ONE Warrior Series after losing previous fights on the show. Bagheri got a takedown in the first minute of the fight. They got back up, however Bagheri kept ahold of Shikuwa for another minute, throwing him down again before they returned to striking. Bagheri got another takedown with two minutes to go in the round, hopping on the back of Shikuwa moments after. They got back up in a clinch with a minute to go. Shikuwa was limping as the fight round was winding down. A leg kick made Shikawa fall down before the round ran out of time.

After landing a few leg kicks, Bagheri got another takedown to begin the second round. He threw punches for multiple minutes in top position. Shikuwa limped to his corner after the round ended. In-between rounds, it was decided that Shikwa could not continue. Getting his first win in the ONE Warrior Series, Mehdi Baheri got his fifth pro-MMA win.

Bout 11: Sasha Moisa vs. Shahzaib Rindh (155 lbs) (Kickboxing Bout)

In the second and final kickboxing fight of the show, Sasha Moisa and Shashzaib Rindh fought. Moisa recently won a lethwei belt in the World Lethwei Championship. His first and only appearance in ONE was a kickboxing loss in 2019 against Jo Nattawut. The first round was a good back and forth from the fighters.

Rindh circled the outside of the ring for the second round. They clinched up often. This was another close round.

In the second minute of the final round, a series of punches made the referee give Rindh a standing knockdown count. Rindh kept up against the ropes and corners, being hit from more and more punches until he was dropped by punches to end the fight. A strong win from Sasha Moisa made a good case for him to get moved to the ONE mainstage.

Bout 12: Min Hyuk Lee (5-1) vs. Ryoji Kudo (6-1) (155 lbs) (MMA Bout)

The three final fights of the evening were MMA fights. The first, saw Min Hyuk Lee fight Ryoji Kudo. Kudo got a takedown in the second minute of the fight. Since they almost went out of the ring, they got transferred to the center of the ring. They got back up with three minutes to go. Kudo landed many hooks. Lee fell to the ground, with Kudo staying on him and landing punches. Lee got back to his feet, but was clearly shook from all of the strikes he took. They clinched up, lending Lee more time to recover. Kudo continued to land hard punches throughout the round.

The second round started with a clinch. Kudo got a takedown halfway through the round. With over a minute to go in the second round, Kudo got another takedown. They got back up in a clinch with a minute to go. Kudo kept feeding Lee with strikes that he took.

Lee started the final round by coming forward. Kudo got a single leg takedown, however they got up only seconds later. Kudo continued with strikes, out-striking Lee. While this was clearly a win for Kudo, Lee’s toughness was on display. As the round was wrapping up, a huge hematoma was blown up above Lee’s left eyebrow. After the fight ran out of time, they went to the judges who favoured Ryoji Kudo.

Bout 13: Alan Philpott (19-11) vs. Ahmed Faress (15-3) (155 lbs) (MMA Bout)

The next 155-pound fight saw two experienced MMA fighters Alan Philpott and Ahmed Faress battle. Faress got a takedown a minute into the fight. Faress got on Philpott’s back, putting in a rear naked choke as he stood up. On his feet, Philpott tapped out to a rear naked choke. In his fist ONE Warrior Series fight, Ahmed Faress got a quick win.

Bout 14: Byung Hee Lim (3-4) vs. Kieran Joblin (23-12) (155 lbs) (MMA Bout)


The final fight of the show saw Korean fighter Byung Hee LIm fighter Kieran Joblin, who had way more fights under his belt. Joblin got ahold of a leg in the first minute, taking Lim down. Joblin was throwing Lim around, out-wrestling him quite a bit. On the feet, Joblin was throwing punches to the head while still holding him. Joblin was thrown on the ground with just over a minute left in the fight. Lim threw lots of punches and knees to the head from above, with the referee intervening after many unanswered strikes.
