In the main event of UFC Jacksonville on Wednesday, Anthony Smith fought fellow ranked light heavyweight Glover Teixeira for a five-round battle. Here’s the play-by-play of the matchup.

Bout 10: Anthony Smith (33-14) vs. Glover Teixeira (30-7) (Light Heavyweight)
Smith was landing the better jabs early on. Teixeira failed to get a takedown upon first attempt. A pause came after Smith was hit in the groin. Smith was quick to get back to landing good punches when they resumed. Teixeira landed a good punch in the final minute, but besides that he did not connect with much.
Smith continued to connect with punches in the second round. After two strong right hands touched Teixeira, his left eye started to swell. Teixeira had a burst of energy in the fourth minute, putting Smith against the cage and landing many punches. Smith was moving slowing near the end of the round, seemingly fatigued.
Smith was hurt in the first minute of the third round. He shelled up against the cage, but was dropped by a following up. Teixeira got on the back of Smith, switching between trying for a choke and throwing punches. Smith endured periodic striking on the round for many minutes.
Teixeira landed an uppercut that hurt Smith to start the third round. Smith covered up again after being hit with more, going to his knees while trying for a takedown. Teixeira got on his back and continued with punches. Teixeira stood up eventually, letting Smith get up too. Teixeira got a takedown with two minutes to go. He stayed on Smith until the round ended.
In the fifth round, Teixeira got a takedown. In full mount, Teixeira landed punches until the referee stepped in.
