UPDATE 5:02PM EDT: Updated article with the news that Gabriel Green had replaced Kevin Holland.
Saturday’s UFC event has been taken from 12 to 11 bouts, at least for now, as Daniel Rodriguez lost his opponent in Kevin Holland. Per a report from Nolan King of MMA Junkie, an injury forced Holland out of competition.
Later reported by Nolan King, news broke that the replacement fighter would be Gabriel Green. The fight will be his UFC debut, having a previous 9-2 record that included three fights in Bellator. His last MMA fight was in August of 2018.
Holland was looking to have a fast turnaround fight, having won two weeks before against Anthony Hernandez, stopping him in the second minute with strikes.
Holland made his UFC debut in 2018 after a successful showing on “Dana White’s Contender Series.” Going 4-2 since, Holland bounced back from his second UFC loss with the win.
After his win against Hernandez, Holland stressed that he wanted Mickey Gall next.
Rodriguez, who is now in search of a short-notice opponent, made his UFC debut earlier in the year. In his first appearance under the UFC banner, “D-Rod” caught Tim Means with a standing guillotine choke in the second round.
In the headlining slot for Saturday’s show is welterweights Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns. The appearance will be Woodley’s first since losing the UFC Welterweight Championship to Kamaru Usman in March of 2019. The event will take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
