Two products of Dana White’s Contender Series clashed on the UFC Fight Night main card when Roosevelt Roberts fought Brok Weaver. Here’s how the exchange panned out.
Bout 8: Roosevelt Roberts (9-1) vs. Brok Weaver (15-4) (Lightweight)
They clinched up early after Weaver caught a leg, although didn’t do much with it. They separated after not much happened. Weaver put Roberts against the cage again, being inactive before splitting apart. Roberts landed some good shots. Weaver answered back with another before putting Roberts on the fence again. After Weaver put Roberts against the fence again, Roberts tried as well. Weaver got caught in a guillotine choke while putting Roberts against the fence, going to the ground to escape the hold before the round ended.
Weaver continued his style of putting Roberts against the cage in the second round. Roberts got a takedown, moving into full mount quickly. Weaver turned his back to him putting in a rear naked choke. He escaped, with Roberts landing some punches. He tried again for the choke, getting it under the chin and making Weaver tap out.
RESULT: Roosevelt Roberts def. Brok Weaver via Submission, Rear Naked Choke (RD 2, 3:26)
