“Fight Island,” the venue where UFC plans to book its international talent is in Abu Dhabi. Per a report from Marcelo Barone and Raphael Marinho of Combate, the promotion plans to hold the events in the country, allowing it to be easier for international athletes to compete amid COVID-19 laws in place worldwide.
The location of the venue was speculated for long, with UFC event releasing “Where Is Fight Island” merchandise poking fun at the fact.
UFC has held three events in Abu Dhabi in the past, most recently travelling to the venue for pay-per-view event UFC 242, an event headlined by UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier.
UFC’s most recent shows have been held in the United States, holding three events at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, before heading to the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
