Conor McGregor Announces Retirement From ‘Fighting’ Via Twitter

Late Saturday night, former UFC lightweight and middleweight champion Conor McGregor announced his retirement from MMA on Twitter. The announcement is the third time McGregor has claimed retirement.

“Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting. Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been,” said McGregor on Twitter. He continued, mentioning an attached photo and speaking to his mother.

“Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins! Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you! Whatever you desire it’s yours.”

During the UFC 250 press conference, UFC President Dana White reacted to the news, tying it into how people don’t want to fight during a pandemic. “If these guys want to sit out and retire right now, or anybody feels uncomfortable in any way, shape or form of what’s going on, you don’t have to fight. It’s all good.
