Three Bouts Added To UFC’s July 18th Show, Including Diakiese vs. Patrick

Three more fights were added to UFC’s July 18th show over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday. The event is one of the many set to be held at “Fight Island” on the Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

A lightweight clash between Mark Diakiese and Alan Patrick will join the card, as announced by the fighters online. The fight will be Patrick’s first since a 2018 loss to Scott Holtzman, being finished in the third round with elbows. Diakiese, who had a March bout cancelled due to COVID-19, looks to build on his two-fight winning streak her currently holds.

Also on the card will be a flyweight clash between Alexandre Pantoja and the undefeated Askar Askarov. Askarov made his UFC debut last September, going to a draw against Brandon Moreno. He has since won again, getting a decision victory over Tim Elliott. Pantoja, The Ultimate Fighter Season 24 alum, will look to build off of a late 2019 win over Matt Schnell.

On Thursday, Marcelo Barone of Combate reported that Sergey Spivak and Carlos Felipe have also been matched for the card. Felipe will be making his UFC debut, having an undefeated 7-0 MMA record in regional Brazilian competition. Spivak, who debuted undefeated in 2019, now has a 10-2 record after three fights in the UFC, most recently being a loss to Marcin Tybura.

Here’s the work in progress card for UFC’s July 18th show, which is currently headlined by a vacant UFC Flyweight Championship match between Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benavidez.
