Cortney Casey returned to fight Gillian Robertson on the prelims of Saturday’s UFC show. Here’s how the fight went.
Bout 4: Cortney Casey (9-7) vs. Gillian Robertson (7-4) (Flyweight)
Casey landed a few good punches to start the round. Robertson got a takedown in the first minute. Robertson moved into side control for a few moments but spent most of the round in half guard. They stayed in the position until the round concluded.
Casey scored a multi-punch combination to start the second round. Robertson got a takedown moments after. Robertson was in many different positions, staying in control the whole time it was on the ground. Robertson tried for an arm triangle choke for a moment in the final minute. They stayed in the position until the round ended.
The striking was close in the third round, with both fighters landing shots. Robertson got another takedown in the second minute of the round. Casey landed some elbows from the bottom position. Casey tried for an armbar with half of the round left. While trying for the move Casey complained that Roberton was grabbing her glove. Robertson escaped the hold, moving into top position in full guard. Casey continued with elbows from the bottom. Robertson got on the back of Casey, putting in a rear naked choke that made Casey tap out as the round concluded.
