Combate Americas Announces Return For August 28th

MMA promotion Combate Americas has announced their returning date for August 28th, along with two September dates also planned. Per a press release obtained by Sherdog, the events will take place in Miami, Florida, USA.

Combate Americas’ August event has a main event booked for it, as Juan Puerta and David Duran will battle for the promotion’s vacant flyweight belt.

Puerta will be making his Combate Americas debut, with a previous five-fight winning streak coming from regional promotion Titan FC. His most recent fight was in October, getting an armbar win over Reynaldo Adolfo de los Santos.

Duran has three previous fights in Combate Americas, all wins. His most recent MMA fight was a loss in Bellator against James Barnes.

In September, Combate will hold events on September 11th and 25th. All three events will be broadcasted on AXS TV for American viewers.

As is with all major MMA promotions that have returns scheduled, the promotion will have a protocol in place to test for COVID-19. The events will not have a live audience.

Combate Americas has held two events in 2020 previously, with a January event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a February event in Mexicali, Mexico. They had three events in March cancelled due to COVID-19.
