In a double UFC debut, former Invicta FC veterans Kay Hansen and Jinh Yu Frey fought on the prelims of UFC’s show on Saturday. Here’s how it went.
Bout 2: Jinh Yu Frey (9-4) vs. Kay Hansen (6-3) (Strawweight)
Hansen clinched up after Frey landed a calf kick. Frey connected with a couple of shots after they left the clinch. Frey was successful counter-punching against Hansen in the second minute. Hansen clinched up again halfway through the round, putting Frey against the cage. Frey scored with a punch and head kick before letting go of Hansen. The round ended of the feet.
Frey continued to periodically chop away at Hansen’s lead leg with kicks in the second round. They clinched up in the second minute where Hansen was able to get a takedown. She took half guard on top. Hansen tried going into side control but was never able to pass the legs of Frey. Hansen got to her feet in the final seconds of the round.
Frey landed a good counter-punch to Hansen, who was coming forward with punches early in the third round. Hansen shot for a takedown in the second minute. While Frey was able to defend for a minute, Hansen eventually went down while trying for an armbar. Hansen was able to extend the armbar and made Frey tap out.
RESULT: Kay Hansen def. Jinh Yu Frey via Submission, Armbar (RD 3, 2:26)
