Following his main event win on UFC’s card last Saturday, Dustin Poirier has overtaken Tony Ferguson for second place on the lightweight rankings. The change is one of the many as part of UFC.com’s new rankings released on Tuesday.
Poirier got his win on Saturday after defeated fifth-ranked Dan Hooker via unanimous decision. Following the “Fight of the Night” winner, Hooker did not move from fifth in the division. Lots of movement happened in the rankings with fighters who did not fight.
Along with the advancement in the 155-pound rankings, Poirier saw a jump into the top 10 of the men’s pound-for-pound rankings. His win moved him up from 11th to ninth, overtaking UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway.
While lots of movement happened in the UFC rankings, the moves involving Poirier were the only ones related to fights from last weekend.
