The long-awaited UFC call-up for Jai Herbert will come on July 25th, as he faces Francisco Trinaldo. The matchup was first reported by Marcelo Barone of Combate on Monday.
Herbert, a former Cage Warriors Lightweight Champion was first set to make his UFC debut in March, facing Marc Diakiese. That plan fell through after the promotion’s March 21st event was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Herbert comes into the fight on a six-fight winning streak. His resume leading up to this fight has been an explosive one, with the majority of his fights ending via stoppage.
Trinaldo has the larger experience edge over Herbert, having fought in the UFC frequently since 2012. The Brazilian has recently strung together wins over Bobby Green and John Makdessi.
