UFC’s July 25th show has lost two fighters in Danny Roberts and Shavkat Rakhmonov recently. The show, which is set to happen on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, is temporarily limited to 10 bouts.
The removal of the two fighters from the show was first reported by Farrah Hannoun of MMA Junkie. The reason for either fighter’s absence on the card is currently not known.
While Roberts and Rakhmonov were scheduled for different bouts, their incidents share similarities. Both fighters were booked for welterweight matches, and both fighters were scheduled for the UFC’s March 21st event before COVID-19 cancelled it.
Roberts was meant to face Nicolas Dalby on the card. The fight would see Roberts attempt to build off of his late 2019 victory over Zelim Imadaev. This exact pairing was scheduled in March before.
Rakhmonov was scheduled to fight against Ramazan Emeev. The fight would have been the now long-awaited debut for Rakhmonov in the UFC. The former M-1 Welterweight Champion currently holds a perfect 11-0 record in MMA.
