ONE Championship’s middleweight and light heavyweight MMA champion Aung La N Sang has recently announced he tested positive for COVID-19. The announcement was made on Thursday via the fighter’s Instagram page.
Per the statement, a test from Monday done on Sang came back on Thursday positive.
“So my family and I will be quarantining ourselves for the next 14 days,” said Sang on his post, a three-photo slideshow that proved his positive test results.
He went on to mention effects that he attributed to COVID-19, saying “I had a slight fever, congestion, body ache and fatigue on the first two days.”
Support from fellow fighters came to Sang following the news of his test.
“We know whos gonna win this fight … Steady recovery champ,” said ONE Championship fighter Ev Ting via Instagram.
“Get well soon bro,” said UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad.
ONE Championship has not held an event in a few months after COVID-19 curbed their 2020 plans. The promotion’s return is currently set for July 31st in Bangkok, Thailand with three bouts currently scheduled for it.
