Two fights have been added to UFC’s July 25th show on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The card currently has 12 fights in total with a middleweight main event between Robert Whittaker and Darren Till. Here are the new additions.
Paul Craig vs. Gadzhimurad Antigulov
Announced by the UFC on Thursday, Paul Craig and Gadzhminurad Antigulov will battle in a light heavyweight matchup on the card.
The fight is the long-awaited return of Antigulov, who had three different matchups cancelled from November to June. The Russian’s last two fights were losses via punches in the first round. He looks to get back in the win column and get his third UFC win on on the 25th.
Craig’s even four wins and four losses UFC record had a draw added to it for the first time in late 2019, as a scorecard battle against Mauricio Rua did not favour a particular fighter. Before then, Craig won a fight against Vinicius Moreira via rear naked choke in the first round. If Craig wins, it will be the longest streak of fights in his UFC run without a loss (three fights).
Nicolas Dalby vs. Jesse Ronson
With the exit of Danny Roberts from his matchup against Nicolas Dalby, a new opponent has been found for the welterweight battle in Jesse Ronson. The new pairing was first announced by Aaron Bronsteter of TSN. The Canadian MMA fighter will be making his return to the UFC after fighting outside of the promotion for six years.
Ronson had a short and unsuccessful UFC run the first time around, losing three-straight bouts before being cut from the promotion. He has won eight fights and lost five since then, appearing in notable promotions like UAE Warriors and PFL.
Dalby will look to build off of his last win, which came against Alex Oliviera back in September. Similar to Ronson, Dalby is also on his second run in the UFC, having fought for the promotion in 2015 and 2016.
