Maxim Grishin To Make UFC Debut, Taking Short Notice UFC 251 Fight Versus Marcin Tybura

Former PFL heavyweight Maxim Grishin will get his first UFC matchup on July 11th, as he faces off with Marcin Tybura. The matchup, which is scheduled for UFC 251 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi was first reported by RT Sport.

Grishin takes the fight on short notice, replacing Alexander Romanov, who withdrew from his matchup recently.

Grishin competed in major MMA promotion PFL for many years, participating in the 2018 and 2019 season format that started a couple years back. He has not lost in his past nine bouts, winning seven and going to a draw twice.

Tybura’s last fight saw the Russian snap a two-fight losing streak, defeating Sergey Spivak via decision. Having been a part of the UFC since 2016, Tybura has an even five wins and five losses since.

The big story around UFC 251 currently is the possibility of Jorge Masvidal stepping in to face Kamaru Usman on less than six days’ notice. Reports say negotiations have finished between the two parties, and that they’ll travel out to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi if their COVID-19 tests return negative.
