UFC.com’s rankings were updated on Tuesday with a new addition to the UFC pound-for-pound rankings, Petr Yan. The addition to the list comes after Yan was crowned the new UFC Bantamweight Champion on Saturday.
Yan defeated Jose Aldo on Saturday at UFC 251 to take the previously vacant bantamweight belt. He takes 13th place in the rankings, moving Robert Whittaker and Francis Ngannou down to 14th and 15th.
Kamaru Usman, who retained his UFC Welterweight Championship on Saturday against Jorge Masvidal moved up to fifth in the pound-for-pound standings, overtaking Daniel Cormier.
Despite losing on Saturday in a UFC Featherweight Championship match to Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway moved from 10th to ninth in the pound-for-pound rankings on Tuesday.
Moving up with him was Dustin Poirier, who is now in eighth place. Conor McGregor dropped two spots to take 10th.
Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade both moved in the women’s pound-for-pound rankings following their “Fight of the Night” battle. Namajunas moved up two slots into fourth place, as Andrade dropped to sixth.
Also, in the strawweight division Namajunas overtook Andrade’s previously held first place in the division.
Prochazka Earns First Ranking
After his first fight in the UFC last week, Jiri Prochazka crashed the light heavyweight rankings on Tuesday in seventh place.
Prochazka, a former RIZIN Light Heavyweight Champion, made his UFC debut last Saturday, defeating Volkan Oezdemir on the preliminary card of UFC 251.
Oezdemir was originally ranked seventh, dropping two places following his loss. In a ripple effect, Alexander Gustafsson moved up to seventh place in the rankings.
The debut of Prochazka moved the bottom six fighters down a place each, with Aleksandar Rakic, Nikita Krylov, Misha Cirkunov, Johnny Walker, Ryan Spann and Magomed Ankalaev moving down a place each.
Other Movement Due To UFC 251
Many other fighters who participated in UFC 251 saw a change in their ranking.
After defeating Paige VanZant in quick fashion with an armbar, Amanda Ribas was boosted up to 12th in the strawweight division, passing Angela Hill and Alexa Grasso.
A win on the prelims for Raulian Paiva gave his rank a small boost, taking 12th in the flyweight division now.
