UFC Fight Night: Francisco Trinaldo vs. Jai Herber Play-by-Play

The final preliminary bout saw Francisco Trinaldo face Jai Herbert in a lightweight bout. Here’s how it went.

Bout 8: Francisco Trinaldo (25-7) vs. Jai Herbert (10-1) (Lightweight)

Herbert connected with a right hand in the first minute that was clean. A left hand later in the minute from Trinaldo hurt Herbert. Trinaldo clinched up with Herbert against the cage, getting a takedown moments after. Trinaldo got to his feet while Herbert was seated, trying for a guillotine choke. Herbert got to his feet and escaped the choke, staying in a clinch after. Trinaldo got a takedown from the clinch in the third minute of the fight. Trinaldo landed in half guard after trying to get on the back of Herbert on the ground. They returned to the feet in a clinch again, separating moments after. Herbert was able to get his own takedown from the clinch in the final minute, getting into half guard before the round ran out of time.

Herbert dropped Trinaldo with punches in the opening seconds of the second round. Herbert went down to the ground in half guard after. Herbert got on the back of Trinaldo, landing some punches to the body before trying for a rear naked choke. Letting go of the choke which never got full established, Herbert stayed on the back of Trinaldo until halfway through the round. Back on the feet, Herbert slipped after throwing a kick. Trinaldo connected with a punch to Herbert who got back up to the feet. Herbert was hurting Trinaldo with his punches, wobbling him a few times.

A left hand in the second minute floored Herbert. There was a large delay before the stoppage, where Trinaldo hesitated as he expected the fight to end. He landed a few more punches before the referee ended the fight.

RESULT: Francisco Trinaldo def. Jai Herbert via KO, Left Cross (RD 3, 1:30)
