Ion Cutelaba Tests Positive For COVID-19, Causing Rematch With Magomed Ankalev To Be Moved To August 29th

UFC 252 is without a rematch as a positive COVID-19 test on Ion Cutelaba took him out of his bout against Magomed Ankalaev. News of the cancelled bout was first reported by Igor Lazorin.

The positive COVID-19 test has caused the bout to be moved, now joining UFC’s August 29th card.

The first meeting between Ankalaev and Cutelaba came in February, where Ankalaev won in the first minute due to strikes. The stoppage was protested immediately by Cutelaba, who argued it was too early to call. Due to this, the fight was rescheduled shortly after.

Before COVID-19 affected UFC cards, Ankalaev and Cutelaba were set to battle in April. Their matchup on UFC 252 was the second attempt at making the bout happen.
