Juan Archuleta vs. Patchy Mix To Fight For Bellator Title At September 11th and 12th Doubleheader

Bellator is planning a doubleheader on September 11th and 12th, with a championship bout between Juan Archuleta and Patrick Mix headlining the second night of action. News of the fight, which is set to be for the currently vacant Bellator Bantamweight Championship, was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

Mix has been a rising star in Bellator, having an explosive promotional debut year in 2019. After wins over Ricky Bandejas and Isaiah Chapman, Mix defeated RIZIN fighter Yuki Motoya in December. With 10 of his 12 wins finishes as a pro, Mix is currently undefeated.

Archuleta has been one of the better bantamweights in Bellator since he was picked up by the promotion in 2018. In his time in Bellator, Archuleta has won six of his seven bouts. His sole loss came in 2019, losing a championship bout to Bellator Featherweight Champion Patricio Pitbull.

The promotion has been without a champion for some time now, as injury forced former RIZIN and Bellator double champion Kyoji Horiguchi to vacate his belts.

Fitch and Gracie Look To Bounce Back From Losses

Jon Fitch will return on the Saturday card for a bout against Neiman Gracie. The bout was first reported by Ariel Helwani of ESPN.

Fitch’s last fight was a a draw, facing then-Bellator Welterweight Champion Rory MacDonald. In his previous Bellator fight, Fitch defeated Paul Daley via decision.

Gracie will look to bounce back from a loss for the first time in his career, losing to MacDonald in June of 2019 at Bellator 222.

Carmouche and Bennett Make Bellator Debuts on 12th

Former UFC flyweight Liz Carmouche will make her Bellator debut on Saturday, facing DeAnna Bennett on Bellator 245. Carmouche was cut from the UFC in the summer of 2019 following a failed championship fight against Valentina Shevchenko.

Bennett, an Invicta FC fighter, will make her Bellator debut as well. Her last fight was last September, losing to Miranda Maverick via rear naked choke.

Cat Zingano To Make Bellator Debut on The 11th

Out of the two shows, Bellator’s September 11th card has the least amount of bouts announced for it. Joining the previously-reported main event of Lyoto Machida and Phil Davis on the show, former UFC fighter Cat Zingano will make her Bellator debut against Gabby Holloway. The fight was first announced by Ariel Helwani of ESPN.

Zingano’s last UFC was in late 2018, with an eye injury abruptly ending her fight against Megan Anderson. She lost four of her last five bouts in the promotion.

Holloway, also known as the “Gabbanator” will return from an extended absence in September. Her previous fight was in 2017, where she defeated Alexis Dufresne at Bellator 174.

Vanderford Returns Versus Madrid

Undefeated Bellator talent Austin Vanderford will return on Saturday’s card facing Daniel Madrid. First reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie, the fight will be Vanderfords return since his last fight, which came back in November of 2019.

Vanderford has been undefeated since he turned professional in 2017. The last three of his nine fights in total have happened in Bellator.

Madrid will make his Bellator debut in September. He carries a four-fight winning streak into the promotion, with wins in promotions LFA and RUF.

Bout 3: Jon Fitch (32-7-2) vs. Neiman Gracie (9-1) (Welterweight)

Bout 2: Liz Carmouche (13-7) vs. DeAnna Bennett (10-6-1) (Flyweight)

Bout 1: Austin Vanderford (9-0) vs. Daniel Madrid (17-6) (Middleweight)
