A series of bouts were announced for RIZIN Fighting Federation’s upcoming September 27th event on Friday. The lineup included veteran Satoru Kitaoka and Krazy Bee fighter Yusaku Nakamura.
Yusuke Yachi vs. Juri Ohara
Following a failed attempt to capture the RIZIN Bantamweight Championship, Yusuke Yachi will welcome Juri Ohara to the RIZIN ring for the first time.
Yachi fought in early August, losing in the second minute to now-champion Roberto Satoshi Souza. His previous fight snapped a losing streak, stopping Hiroto Uesako in the third round.
Ohara has been an active fighter on the regional level for a decade, attaining 26 wins mostly in regional promotion DEEP Impact. He also competed last August, getting a win over Takumi Suzuki in under a minute.
Takasuke Kume vs. Satoru Kitaoka
Getting his first shot in RIZIN, Takasuke Kume will face the extremely experienced Satoru Kitaoka on RIZIN 24. Kume, the current King of Pancrase Lightweight Champion, won his two 2019 bouts. The more recent of the two wins was against Koshi Matsumoto, getting the win on a Pancrase versus Shooto card being put together by ONE Championship.
Kitaoka competed twice in RIZIN in 2019, losing in both matchups. After an April loss to Roberto Satoshi Souza, a scary stoppage in the first round against Johnny Case at RIZIN 17 put him on the shelf for some time. He returned to action last July, going to a time limit draw against Sho Kogane in his newly formed MMA promotion iSMOS.
Koji Takeda vs. Yuki Kawana
After stringing together two wins each on the regional scene, Koji Takeda and Yuki Kawana will face off at RIZIN 24.
Takeda has appeared in RIZIN before, with an April 2019 bout against Damien Brown being a loss. He has since returned to DEEP Impact, where he picked up two wins against Juri Ohara.
After losing three bouts in the Professional Fighters League, Kawana returned to his home promotion of Shooto Japan in 2019. Getting back in the win column, Kawana defeated Yuki Okano in early 2019. He fought again last July, stopping Shutaro Debana in the first round.
Takahiro Ashida vs. Kyohei Hagiwara
A featherweight bout was added to the card as well, as experienced DEEP fighter Takahiro Ashida was matched up with the much less experienced Kyohei Hagiwara.
Ashida will be making his return to MMA, as his December outing saw him lose to former K-1 Japan kickboxer Ren Hiramoto. His last MMA fight was last October, defeating Tatsunao Nagakura on a DEEP Impact card.
Hagiwara has fought only three times as a pro and holds a negative record of one win and two losses. His last performance was an impressive one, however, as he stopped Rikuto Shirakawa late in the third round at RIZIN 22.
Return To Saitama
The four newly announced matchups join RIZIN 24’s one previous addition, that being a matchup between star kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa and former K-1 kickboxer Koji. The matchups are set to happen on September 27th at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
