UFC on ESPN+ 36: Sarah Alpar vs. Jessica-Rose Clark Play-by-Play

Sarah Alpar and Jessica-Rose Clark fought on the prelims on Saturday’s show. The bantamweight fight went like this.

Bout 5: Sarah Alpar (9-4) vs. Jessica-Rose Clark (9-6) (Bantamweight)

Alpar scored a takedown a minute into the fight, although Clark was able to get back up to a body lock immediately. Clark landed elbows to the head of Alpar when the fight went down to the knees briefly. Clark landed punches and elbows from a body lock on the feet. She tripped Alpar to the ground for a moment in the fourth minute. Clark got a takedown with a minute left in the round, getting half guard on top. Clark moved into side control before the round ran out of time.

Alpar scored a single leg takedown early into the second round. Clark was able to get into a clinch on the feet seconds after. Alpar took Clark down to the knees for a moment before they stood back up. Clark scored a knee to the body in the clinch. Clark connected with an elbow before they returned to kickboxing range. Clark put Alpar in a clinch against the cage again with three minutes left in the round. They separated with just over two minutes left in the fight. Clinching up again, the fight went to the knees after Clark landed a series of elbows to the head. Clark got on the back of Alpar after Alpar failed a takedown attempt. Clark finished the round with a series of punches and elbows to the side of Alpar’s head.

Clark stuffed a takedown to start the third round. She landed a few elbows to the head of Alpar, who kept ahold of a leg. Back to striking on the feet, Clark came forward with a series of punches. Clark landed a knee to the head while Alpar was falling. A pause came as it was not known if the strike was legal or not. The knee caused Alpar to bleed heavily. The strike was legal, and the fight resumed with Clark on top. Clark’s momentum from dropping Alpar with strikes had obviously expired. Clark took half guard on top, moving into full mount with half of the round left. Alpar was bleeding heavily as Clark continued with punches. Back on the feet, Clark dropped Alpar with two more knees to the head, causing the referee to end the fight.

RESULT: Jessica-Rose Clark def. Sarah Alpar via TKO, Knees (RD 3, 4:21)
