Three bouts on the UFC’s October 10th card have had short-notice changes. Here are the new matchups for the card, which is scheduled to happen on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Bea Malecki Out of Bout Against Tracy Cortez, Replaced By Stephanie Egger
Tracy Cortez will have a new opponent on the card, as she is now matched with Swiss fighter Stephanie Egger. The opponent change was announced in a UFC press release obtained by Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.
Egger replaces Bea Malecki, who withdrew due to undisclosed reasons.
Egger is on a three-fight streak of wins. She last competed in early September, catching Cinja Kiefer with a rear naked choke. Her most notable win was over KING Reina at RIZIN 17 in July of 2019.
Cortez, a fighter picked up by the UFC through TV series “Dana White’s Contender Series,” will look for her second UFC win.
Ilia Topuria Steps In For Seung Woo Choi Against Youssef Zalal
Seung Woo Choi has withdrawn from his fight against Youssef Zalal, giving Ilia Topuria the chance to make his UFC debut. News of the matchup was broken by Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.
It is not known why Choi withdrew from his fight.
Topuria has been undefeated through eight fights in his career. His three most recent wins came in notable regional promotions Cage Warriors and Brave CF.
Zalal has had a hot 2020, winning three straight fights in the UFC. The latest of the series of wins was last August, taking Peter Barrett to a decision.
Alan Baudot Replaces Serghei Spivac Against Tom Aspinall
Tom Aspinall will be matched with UFC newcomer Alan Baudot on the October 10th “Fight Night.” First reported by La Sueur, Baudot will replace Serghei Spivac.
Baudot has fought as a pro since 2013, attaining a record of eight wins and one loss since then. His last bout was in April of 2019, defeating Todd Stoute on a TKO card.
Baudot trains at MMA Factory, the same gym that undefeated heavyweight Ciryl Gane represents.
Aspinall made his UFC debut last July, defeating Jake Collier in under a minute with strikes. He looks for his second UFC win against Baudot.
