Former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos won’t be a part of the UFC 254 pay-per-view on October 24th, as a positive COVID-19 test has ruled him out of his bout against Islam Makhachev.
Dos Anjos announced the positive test via social media on Thursday.
“COVID-19 caught me big time and the doctors cut me out,” said dos Anjos.
It is not known currently if Makhachev can get a new opponent for the show, which is scheduled to happen on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Dos Anjos looked to end a two-fight skid which has seen him drop fights to Leon Edwards and Michael Chiesa.
Makhachev was set to enter the fight on a six-fight streak of victories that dates back to 2016.
UFC 254 is still scheduled to be headlined by UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim champ Justin Gaethje.
