Michael Page Wins Bellator Main Event Over Ross Houston, Claims Canvas Caused New Gameplan

Michael “Venom” Page put on a controlling performance over Ross Houston to win via decision in the main event of Bellator 248.

While Page worked his way to a unanimous decision, the fight lacked the flashy showmanship Page is known for, which came to the disapproval of the crowd at the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

“I don’t like to make excuses, but the canvas today was so slippery I had to change my whole style … I had to go very basic,” said Page in his post-fight interview.

After his win, Page called for a rematch with Douglas Lima, who defeated him in May of 2019.

“That’s the one fight I want,” said Page.

The Bellator show featured a live audience from the Accor Arena, making it the first event from the promotion with a crowd since the global spread of COVID-19 started earlier in the year.

The country of France reported its highest single-day of new COVID-19 cases on Friday, reporting 20,339.

Enkamp Gets Third Bellator Win

Olivier Enkamp had a quick outing in the fight before the main event, stopping Emmanuel Dawa in the first round with a Japanese necktie. The win was Enkamp’s third-straight in Bellator.

After the fight, Enkamp did not express interest in a title shot against Douglas Lima.

“I don’t really look [at] this as competition, more like an art form or entertainment for the audience. So, really, I’d like to fight whoever the fans want to see,” said Enkamp in his post-fight interview.

Bellator is scheduled to hold six more fights on Saturday night as part of their “European Series” programming. Their second main card is headlined by heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Timothy Johnson. The main card is set to begin at 5:00PM EDT (11:00PM CEST).
