Jacare Souza To Return Against Marvin Vettori At UFC 256

December’s UFC 256 pay-per-view has a new matchup, as former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jacare Souza will face Marvin Vettori. The matchup was reported by Marc Raimondi of ESPN on Tuesday.

While UFC 256 has not been formally announced, the event is expected to happen from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The fight is set to be Souza’s first in 2020. Souza was scheduled to fight Uriah Hall at UFC 249 in May, although he was pulled from the card on short notice due to a positive COVID-19 test.

His two 2019 fights were losses, not being picked on scorecards over Jack Hermansson and Jan Blachowicz.

Vettori will aim to extend his streak of wins to four-straight in December. His last fight was in June, catching Karl Roberson in the first round with a rear naked choke.

The matchup is a change for Vettori, who was first scheduled to fight Omari Akhmedov on the card.

The headlining bout for UFC 256 is currently scheduled to by between UFC Featherweight Champion Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson. Here’s the new lineup.

Bout 4: Amanda Nunes (20-4) vs. Megan Anderson (10-4) (UFC Featherweight Championship)

Bout 3: Mackenzie Dern (9-1) vs. Virna Jandiroba (16-1) (Strawweight)

Bout 2: Dwight Grant (10-3) vs. Li Jingliang (17-6) (Welterweight)

Bout 1: Marvin Vettori (15-3-1) vs. Ronaldo Souza (26-8) (Middleweight)
