Welterweights Claudio Silva and James Krause fought on the main card of Saturday’s UFC “Fight Night.” Here’s how their fight panned out.
Bout 8: Claudio Silva (14-1) vs. James Krause (27-8) (Welterweight)
Krause stopped numerous takedowns early in the first round. Krause landed some hard punches early in the fight. Silva scored a takedown two minutes into the fight, getting on the back of Krause as he got back to the feet. The fight returned to striking with two minutes to go in the fight. Krause stopped a takedown attempt in the fourth minute of the fight. Krause backed Silva up against the cage with punches late in the first round.
Krause connected with hard right hands to the body and head in the second round. Silva failed to score a takedown a minute into the fight. Silva continued to land the better strikes while stopping takedowns in the later minutes of the round.
A leg kick from Silva caused Krause to fall early in the third round. He was wobbled again by a different kick later in the first minute. Krause stopped another takedown attempt a minute into the round. He got hurt by another leg kick. Both fighters were connecting with a high volume of strikes in the round. Krause had a takedown of his own stopped in the fourth minute of the round. Going to the scorecards, Krause swept the scorecards (30-27, 30-27 & 30-27).
RESULT: James Krause def. Claudio Silva via Decision, Unanimous
