Jun Yong Park fought the experienced John Phillips on Saturday’s UFC preliminary card. Their three-round bout went like this.
Bout 4: Jun Yong Park (11-4) vs. John Phillips (22-10) (Middleweight)
Park scored a double leg takedown a minute into the fight. Park looked for a guillotine choke as the fight went to the feet. Phillips sat down on the ground as Park kept a hold of the choke. Letting go of the choke, Park got on the back of Phillips. Park threw punches to the side of Phillips’ head from the position. Park continued with hammerfist punches while staying in control on the ground.
Park scored a takedown 30 seconds into the second round, quickly getting on the back of Phillips. Like he did in the round before, Park landed a high volume of hammerfist punches from the back. Park held the position until the round concluded.
Park landed a single leg takedown in the first minute of the round. Park held half guard from top position. Park took the back of Phillips in the fourth minute of the fight. Park took side control before the round ran out of time. Park cleaned the scorecard after three rounds (30-25, 30-25 & 30-25).
RESULT: Jun Yong Park def. John Phillips via Decision, Unanimous
