Accusations of domestic violence have been placed on UFC fighter Mike Perry by his ex-wife.
Danielle Nickerson, 28, alleged that Perry committed domestic violence numerous times in the final year of their relationship, per an interview published by MMA Junkie on Tuesday.
Nickerson alleged numerous instances of domestic violence, saying the worst one was a night in February when Perry, 29, “ground-and-pounded” her at home.
MMA Junkie obtained phone call from the night where Sabra Young, the mother of Perry, called 911 for Nickerson. Young mentioned during the call that “he’s [Perry] violent right now and I’m scared for my life.”
Young also mentioned in the call that Perry “has a temper when he drinks.”
Perry issued a statement on the article the night before it was published, disputing claims of domestic violence.
“First and foremost I did not put my hands on my ex at any point in our short term marriage,” said Perry via Twitter.
Perry also mentioned he is currently taking an “intensive rehab program” that is helping him with alcoholism and anger issues.
Nickerson filed a protective order against Perry that was denied by a judge in Florida, USA, in July. The judge considered it “general relationship problems and uncivil behaviour,” making it not valid to be considered domestic violence.
Nickerson did not reveal details of domestic violence at the time as she “didn’t want to ruin his life.”
Nickerson and Perry had dated since 2015, with Nickerson claiming she didn’t deal with domestic violence for the first four years of their relationship.
Being nicknamed the “Platinum Princess,” Nickerson became known in the MMA community for her octagon-side presence for Perry, often being in his corner for bouts.
Perry made headlines in July after videos surfaced of him getting into a physical altercation with a man at a bar in Lubbock, Texas, USA.
Perry is currently scheduled to fight Robbie Lawler at UFC 255 on November 21st.
